HOW TO TRAVEL TO NANTUCKET
Nantucket can be reached by plane or ferry.
By Plane
NANTUCKET MEMORIAL AIRPORT (ACK)
Flights will most likely connect through a larger hub such as Boston or New York City. From there, you’ll typically transfer to a smaller plane (Cape Air) or a regional flight operated by JetBlue, United, or American. The airport is about 10–15 minutes from downtown, depending on traffic, and taxis and Ubers are readily available outside.
By ferry
Ferries go to Nantucket, Massachusetts, from several locations, including Hyannis, Harwich Port, and New Bedford on Cape Cod. They drop you right in town.
car rentals
Car rentals are available from local agencies. Nantucket Island Rent‑A‑Car, Affordable Rentals, Windmill Auto Rental, Hertz and Turo are popular options. Many vehicles include beach-driving permits for exploring the island’s beaches and remote areas.
Tips:
Book early — rentals are limited, especially in summer.
Guests staying at the Wauwinet Hotel can use the hotel shuttle to and from town.
If you don’t need a car full-time, bikes, taxis, and the local shuttle are great alternatives.
